The Disappointment of Technology

Technology is great… when it works. When it doesn’t it can be a logistical nightmare.  Especially when that technology is supposed to be used for interactive discussions, such as an interview.  My heart was crushed today when I was supposed to interview within my company for an internal position in our inflight department.  I was so excited. I made sure I was off on the day of my interview, I made sure I had enough sleep to be alert and ready for any questions, I was dressed for success, and most importantly… I made sure my computer was ready and set up with the TEAMS app and all sound and video systems were “Set for GO.”

Unfortunately, when it came time to interview, my sound did not work. I troubleshooted, I clicked my sound system “on”, both on the computer as well as on the app, I checked the volume… and nothing. I could hear them just fine, but they, unfortunately could not hear me. They checked their systems, as well… and still nothing.  So… my well-prepared interview, was now a bust. I was devastated. I had been wanting this position for quite some time.  My heart sank to the depths of my soul as these interviewers said we will just have to reschedule.

I’m sad and frustrated. What if this happens again (IF) I’m granted a second chance? I just don’t understand how one can be so prepared only to have it all fall out from beneath you.

I wanted to be able to focus on my writing today, but I just don’t think I have it in me. I’m sad.
